Montreal-based visual effects studio Rodeo FX is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the release of a legacy reel highlighting two decades of work on major film and television productions, as the company continues to expand internationally.
Founded in 2006, Rodeo FX has grown from a small team into an international creative group employing more than 1,000 people across six facilities. The studio remains independent, led by founder, president and CEO Sébastien Moreau.
Over the past 20 years, Rodeo FX has contributed visual effects work to productions including Game of Thrones, Dune, Stranger Things, Birdman and Blade Runner, working with major studios and streaming platforms such as Warner Bros., Netflix, HBO, Disney, Marvel, Amazon, Apple, Paramount and Sony.
Anniversary Reel Kicks Off Year of Celebrations
The anniversary festivities began last Friday with an event in Montreal bringing together the company’s Canadian employees. Rodeo FX said additional content highlighting company milestones and the people involved will be released over the coming months.
Moreau said the studio was built from Montreal with the ambition of competing with the best visual effects houses in the world, describing its growth from a small founding team to an international creative group. He said the 20th anniversary represents the start of a new chapter for the company.
Growth Through Acquisition and New Ventures
In 2025, Rodeo FX acquired Mikros Animation, adding animation capabilities and expanding its international footprint. Mikros has recently completed the latest PAW Patrol feature film and is currently working on an upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.
The company’s operations also extend through its subsidiary Alchemy 24, which works on Quebec and Canadian television and film productions, and through its advertising and experiential division, which counts Chanel, Hermès and Simons among its clients.
Combined, Rodeo FX and Mikros Animation now operate studios in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Los Angeles, Paris and Bengaluru. The company said it intends to continue expanding its visual effects and animation work, grow its advertising and experiential business, invest in original content, and adopt new technologies for its artists.

Current and Recent Projects
Rodeo FX is currently working on Dune: Part Three, HBO’s House of the Dragon, and Apple’s Silo. Recent completed work includes Masters of the Universe for MGM and the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which received an Emmy nomination. The studio also contributed to HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry, for which it won a VES Award earlier this year.
The company named Paul Salvini as its chief technology officer this past May.
