Scandium Canada Ltd. (TSXV: SCD) has appointed Noel Dubé, P.Eng., to its board of directors and named him a strategic advisor to its subsidiary Scalium+, the company announced. The appointment, approved by the board, took effect September 21, 2026, and is aimed at accelerating the commercialization of the company’s specialized Scalium aluminum-scandium (Al-Sc) alloys and surface treatments.
Dubé, a long-standing shareholder of Scandium Canada, brings more than 20 years of technical and leadership experience in the technology sector. A graduate in engineering physics, he is an active investor in Québec technology funds and currently serves as a director, manager and technical advisor to several companies, where he evaluates technologies, sales, markets and business plans.
A Career Building Technology Companies
Dubé previously served as president and chief executive officer of Reflex Photonics from October 2013 to November 2019. Earlier in his career, he was vice president of sales and business development, a board member and one of the founders of R/D Tech Inc., a research and development firm that manufactured and sold non-destructive testing equipment in more than 50 countries. Between 1990 and 2005, he held executive and management roles at R/D Tech during a period in which the company’s revenue grew from C$2 million to C$180 million, expanding to 600 employees and 12 offices internationally.

Scandium Canada chairman Jeff Swinoga said Dubé’s appointment strengthens the board at a key stage in the company’s development. Swinoga noted that Dubé has advised the company since 2024 and brings experience scaling technology businesses, commercializing technical products internationally, and evaluating companies as an active technology investor, along with an owner’s perspective as a long-standing shareholder.
Simon Thibault, president and CEO of Scandium Canada and president of Scalium+, said Dubé’s experience bringing technology from the laboratory to international markets, along with his network in the financial sector, will support the company’s vertical integration strategy of commercializing its Al-Sc alloys while continuing to advance the Crater Lake project.
Dubé said his career has focused on identifying the traits shared by companies that scale successfully, which he said drew him to invest in Scandium Canada. He described the company as combining a strategic resource, alloy technology suited to multiple industries, and a capable team, and said he is now committing his time and network to the company alongside his existing investment.
Stock Option Grant Tied to Appointment
Alongside the board appointment, Scandium Canada announced the grant of 500,000 stock options to Dubé under its stock option plan. Each option allows the holder to acquire one common share at an exercise price of $0.22, exercisable over five years until September 21, 2031. The options vest monthly at a rate of roughly 1/36, or approximately 2.78 percent, beginning at the end of the month following the September 21, 2026 grant date. The grant remains subject to final approval by the TSX Venture Exchange.
Scandium Canada describes itself as a critical advanced materials company developing what it calls North America’s only vertically integrated primary source of scandium, spanning its Crater Lake project in Nunavik, Québec, to aluminum-scandium alloy products. Through Scalium+, formerly known as Ferreol Technologies, the company brings its patent-pending Al-Sc alloys to market while continuing to advance the Crater Lake mining project.
