In a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 17, the team behind The Lunchbox said the closure was tied to changes at its building location on 110th Street NW. According to the post, the building is undergoing a major redevelopment, and the shop’s current space is required as part of those plans, pushing the business to shut down earlier than expected.

The Lunchbox has operated as a go-to spot for deli sandwiches in Edmonton since opening more than three years ago. The business did not specify further details about the redevelopment project itself, only that the space it currently occupies is needed to move those plans forward.
The shop will remain open through the end of September, continuing daily operations until its final day.
