SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two new fines from the Ontario government totalling $22,500, over allegations the ticket resale platform broke provincial rules limiting resale prices to face value.
According to Ontario’s consumer beware website, the penalties were issued earlier this month. The larger of the two fines, worth $15,000, relates to an allegation that SeatGeek made a ticket available for sale, or facilitated a sale, above the resale price limit set out in provincial law. The second fine, for $7,500, concerns an allegation that the company failed to disclose the total price of a ticket when it was purchased from a primary seller.
Repeat Penalties Under Resale Law
This is not the first time SeatGeek Canada has faced penalties under the law, which bars resellers from listing event tickets above their original face value. The province previously fined the company $25,000 in August for similar alleged offences, bringing the total in recent fines to $47,500.

Neither the Ontario government nor SeatGeek Canada immediately responded to questions about which specific events the latest fines stem from, or whether the company intends to dispute the penalties.
What’s Next
It remains unclear whether SeatGeek will contest the fines through any formal process, and the province has not detailed further enforcement plans against the company. The case adds to ongoing scrutiny of ticket resale platforms operating under Ontario’s price-cap rules.
