MoneyHero Expands Hong Kong Insurance Marketplace With Critical Illness Comparison Tool

MoneyHero Limited, a Nasdaq-listed personal finance and insurance comparison platform operating across Greater Southeast Asia, has added critical illness insurance comparison to its Hong Kong marketplace, expanding the range of products available to consumers researching coverage online.

The new feature lets users compare 13 critical illness plans offered by five insurers: Blue, Bowtie, FWD, OneDegree and Zurich. The plans range from basic protection to more comprehensive policies covering as many as 71 medical conditions, with coverage amounts reaching up to HK$4 million. Critical illness insurance typically pays policyholders a lump sum upon diagnosis of conditions such as cancer, heart attack or stroke, which can be used to cover medical costs, replace lost income or support recovery.

Building on the Life Insurance Marketplace

The critical illness comparison tool builds directly on MoneyHero’s life insurance marketplace, which launched in Hong Kong during the second quarter of 2026. It represents the first product rollout under the company’s second-half 2026 roadmap, which the company outlined during its second-quarter earnings call. With the addition, Hong Kong users can now compare life, travel and medical insurance products side by side on the platform.

The comparison tool allows users to filter results by age, gender and smoker status to generate personalized quotes, and to weigh single-claim versus multiple-claim policy options before clicking through to an insurer’s site to complete an application.

Company Points to Consumer Demand and Growth Strategy

Danny Leung, MoneyHero’s Interim CEO and CFO, said critical illness insurance addresses demand the company is seeing among Hong Kong consumers, noting that comparing policies can be difficult given dense documentation and unfamiliar terminology. He said the company’s aim is to simplify that process so customers can compare offerings from multiple insurers and select coverage suited to their needs.

Leung added that the launch builds on momentum from the life insurance marketplace and supports the company’s broader strategy of expanding into what it describes as high-margin insurance verticals, while setting the stage for additional protection and savings products expected in coming quarters.

Terence Miller studied finance and economics, and spent a lot of that time more interested in why markets behave the way they do than in memorizing formulas for exams. He's drawn to stories about smaller companies and the decisions behind them: why a founder pivoted, why a deal fell apart, why a "sure thing" wasn't. He's still figuring out his voice as a writer, which he thinks is a more honest thing to admit than pretending otherwise. When he's not writing, he's probably reading earnings calls for fun, which he recognizes is a strange hobby to have.
