Ekium, an engineering firm that is part of France’s Snef Group, has established the headquarters of Ekium Canada in Calgary, marking its first direct investment in Alberta, according to Invest Alberta, the provincial agency that promotes investment in the region.
The move follows Ekium’s earlier strategic investment in Norda Stelo, a Quebec-based engineering firm with experience in infrastructure, energy and natural resource projects across Canada and the United States. Invest Alberta described the Calgary headquarters as a key milestone in Snef Group’s broader push to grow its presence in North America.
Investment and Job Creation
The Calgary hub represents an investment of approximately $10 million and is expected to create at least 100 skilled jobs over the next three to five years, Invest Alberta said. The agency said the new operations will support work across traditional energy, emerging technologies, nuclear energy and small modular reactors.

Invest Alberta said Ekium’s capabilities will help serve customers in what it called one of North America’s most dynamic energy and industrial markets, and that the company will add to the province’s engineering and project delivery capacity.
Part of a Broader Investment Push
Keith Bradley, Acting CEO of Invest Alberta, said Ekium’s decision to base its Canadian operations in Alberta reflects the province’s position as a destination for global investment. Bradley said Alberta offers the talent, business environment and industry expertise needed for companies to deliver complex projects and serve customers across North America, adding that the province is working through what it calls the Team Alberta investment ecosystem to support companies in creating high-value jobs and advancing energy and industrial development.
Invest Alberta said it works with companies, investors and major projects through teams positioned in key global markets, with the stated goal of helping businesses start up and scale in the province.
