Walmart Canada has completed the transformation of its Squamish store into a full Supercentre, adding fresh groceries to a location that has served the British Columbia community for more than two decades.
The grand opening took place last month at the store’s location at 39210 Discovery Way. The renovated 86,000-square-foot Supercentre employs approximately 170 associates and now combines Walmart’s full general merchandise assortment with a new fresh grocery offering, pickup and delivery service, and a full-service Walmart Pharmacy.
What’s New Inside the Store
The expanded Supercentre now carries fresh groceries including produce, meat, seafood, bakery and dairy items alongside Walmart’s existing general merchandise lines such as fashion, home goods, electronics, health and wellness products, and seasonal items. Customers can shop in-store daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with pickup and delivery available through online orders.
Donna Ricci, Store Manager at the Squamish Walmart, said the conversion responds to years of customer requests for a Supercentre format, adding that the goal is to help families save money while offering more products under one roof.
Raelene Vandenbosch, Pharmacy Manager at the store, said the pharmacy team is looking forward to giving customers greater access to healthcare services in the new space.
The store also features a two-panel mural created by Aboriginal artists Joshua (Schet7xwimtin) Watts Natraoro, a Nuu-chah-nulth and adopted Sḵwx̱wú7mesh First Nations professional artist and Cultural Carrier, and his father Ray (Sesiyam) Natraoro.
Community Investment and Provincial Footprint
As part of the grand opening, the Squamish store presented community grants to the Squamish Sikh Society, Squamish Helping Hands Society and Squamish General Hospital Auxiliary Society. Walmart Canada noted that the store raised and donated $43,000 to local charities and non-profit organizations over the past year.
The Squamish Supercentre is part of Walmart Canada’s broader British Columbia operations, which include 47 stores and a distribution centre across the province, employing more than 12,000 associates. The company said the renovated location reflects its continued investment in Canadian communities and its aim to provide greater convenience and value to shoppers.
