Integrated Power Services Acquires Bold Renewables, Expanding Solar Inverter Service Reach Into Canada

Integrated Power Services (IPS), a Greenville, South Carolina-based provider of aftermarket power management services, has acquired Bold Renewables, a Windsor, Colorado-based company that serves as the exclusive original equipment manufacturer source for field service, spare parts and preventive maintenance of certain Advanced Energy central solar inverters. The deal became effective October 9, according to the companies.

Bold Renewables supports solar inverters branded Solaron, NX, TX and PV Powered, with an installed base of roughly 14,000 units representing more than 4 gigawatts of capacity spread across more than 3,000 solar sites in the United States and Canada. The company holds original OEM design drawings, blueprints and firmware for these inverter platforms, and provides proprietary spare parts and field service through technicians based across North America.

Addressing an Aging Installed Base

According to the companies, as the existing fleet of inverters ages, Bold’s stocked replacement parts and specialized service model offer customers an alternative to full inverter replacement, which can involve costly rewiring and repowering of solar fields. Bold reports 99% average inverter uptime, serving independent power producers, utilities, solar asset managers, site owners, and operations and maintenance providers.

John Zuleger, President and CEO of IPS, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s service offering across the lifecycle of solar and wind assets, noting that Bold’s OEM parts position, field service team and installed-base reach complement IPS’s existing engineering, component repair and renewable energy service capabilities. Zuleger said the addition of Bold, combined with IPS’s earlier acquisition of ENA Electronics, positions the company as a provider of aftermarket lifecycle inverter solutions across wind, solar, mining and industrial markets.

Brenda Clarke, President of Bold Renewables, said joining IPS gives the company access to additional engineering, repair, sales and service resources that can help support customers more broadly while preserving the OEM knowledge, parts access and responsiveness that Bold’s clients rely on.

Role Within IPS’s Broader Platform

Bold will operate within the IPS Motion division as part of its renewable energy services group, alongside ENA Electronics and IPS Folcroft. The companies said the combined platform is intended to align solar and wind power electronics expertise, field service, engineering, component repair, logistics and inventory resources.

IPS describes itself as operating one of the leading independent aftermarket service networks for critical repair, field service and replacement solutions across North America, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean, with more than 110 locations. The company said the Bold acquisition is part of its broader expansion into full lifecycle services, including whole-inverter repair and cross-trained field technicians for co-located solar and wind operators, alongside its existing battery energy storage system, transformer and switchgear service offerings.

Terence Miller studied finance and economics, and spent a lot of that time more interested in why markets behave the way they do than in memorizing formulas for exams. He's drawn to stories about smaller companies and the decisions behind them: why a founder pivoted, why a deal fell apart, why a "sure thing" wasn't. He's still figuring out his voice as a writer, which he thinks is a more honest thing to admit than pretending otherwise. When he's not writing, he's probably reading earnings calls for fun, which he recognizes is a strange hobby to have.
