Saskatchewan Launches Public Review of Farm Security Act

The Government of Saskatchewan has opened a public consultation on The Saskatchewan Farm Security Act, inviting producers and residents to share input through an online survey posted on Saskatchewan.ca.

Agriculture Minister David Marit said the government wants to hear from Saskatchewan producers and residents about the Act, noting that farm land is one of the province’s most valuable assets and that officials want to ensure the legislative framework governing its ownership and protection continues to meet the needs of Saskatchewan people.

What the Survey Covers

The survey, which the government says takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, will gather confidential responses on the perceptions, use and effectiveness of the Act. Topics include farm land ownership, home quarter protection, and farm foreclosure protections.

Timeline for Input

The survey will remain open until November 30, 2026. According to the government, the data collected will feed into the broader review of the Act, with the stated goal of ensuring any potential changes are developed carefully and continue to meet the needs of Saskatchewan people. Residents and producers can participate at Saskatchewan.ca/farmland-consultation.
