Calgary’s PataBid Raises $2 Million to Scale AI Construction Estimating Tool

Calgary-based startup PataBid has raised $2 million in pre-seed funding to accelerate commercialization of its AI-powered construction estimating software.

The company announced the round on Tuesday, with the funding led by Graphite Ventures and additional participation from Sprout Fund, Bluesky Equities, Inverted Ventures, and existing angel investors. PataBid says the capital will support product development, expand its supply and distribution network, and accelerate commercialization efforts across North America.

Adrian Mitchell, principal at Graphite Ventures, said in a statement that PataBid has built something contractors genuinely need, adding that the company’s team brings decades of industry knowledge to estimating, which he described as one of construction’s most outdated processes and a pain point contractors feel on every bid.

What Quantify Does

PataBid’s platform, called Quantify, is positioned as a replacement for manual and legacy estimating tools used across the construction industry. The company says the AI-integrated platform can prepare project estimates based on construction drawings within hours.

PataBid is also developing an agentic AI tool called Newton, which the company plans to integrate into its platform. Newton is currently in beta testing, with a launch planned for 2027.

Growth and Market Opportunity

PataBid was named a Top 10 startup during Calgary Innovation Week in 2025, a recognition that led to its selection for the TELUS Sovereign AI Accelerator program.

The company serves the electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing sectors, and estimates there are roughly 463,000 contractors across North America who could represent potential customers. PataBid charges a licensing fee of $2,460 per year, which the company says gives it room to grow both its market share and revenue.

Terence Miller studied finance and economics, and spent a lot of that time more interested in why markets behave the way they do than in memorizing formulas for exams. He's drawn to stories about smaller companies and the decisions behind them: why a founder pivoted, why a deal fell apart, why a "sure thing" wasn't. He's still figuring out his voice as a writer, which he thinks is a more honest thing to admit than pretending otherwise. When he's not writing, he's probably reading earnings calls for fun, which he recognizes is a strange hobby to have.
