MNP, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired Baker Tilly RSG, an Edmonton-based accountancy, expanding its presence in northeastern Alberta.
Baker Tilly RSG, founded in 1979 as Ross & Sylvestre, joined the Baker Tilly Canada cooperative network in 2022, after the network had previously lost its Edmonton location to RSM Canada. The firm provides accounting, tax and advisory services to private enterprises across the Edmonton region, and employs four partners and 20 team members across offices in Edmonton, Bonnyville and Cold Lake.
The deal follows MNP’s recent acquisitions of Baker Tilly Ottawa and Baker Tilly REO.
Leadership Reaction
Diana Render, MNP’s executive vice-president for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Atlantic Canada, said the firm was pleased to welcome Baker Tilly RSG’s team and clients. She said the combined teams have a deep understanding of the Edmonton region’s business community and a focus on helping mid-market organizations grow, and that joining forces would better position the firm to serve clients and communities with a broader range of services.
Kelly Fowler, who joins MNP as a partner, said the firm sought growth while preserving the culture, autonomy and agility that allow it to offer tailored client solutions, and concluded that MNP’s Canadian partner-owned, partner-led structure was the right fit. Fowler added that the move strengthens Baker Tilly RSG’s existing service offerings and brings additional technology and resources intended to support long-term success for the team and its clients.

New Locations for MNP
Baker Tilly RSG’s team will continue operating out of its three existing offices, which will become MNP’s first locations in Bonnyville and Cold Lake.
MNP, headquartered in Calgary, opened its first Edmonton office in 1996 and has since expanded into other northeastern Alberta communities including Drayton Valley, Fort McMurray, Leduc and Lloydminster. The firm employs more than 9,700 people across over 150 offices in Canada.
