KaleMart24, a Montreal-based convenience store chain, is moving ahead with a rapid expansion plan across Quebec and Ontario, aiming to reach at least 22 locations by the first quarter of 2027.
The company currently operates nine locations and has secured 17 additional sites, according to founder Oussama Saoudi. Of those secured locations, eight are already under construction and are expected to open by the end of the fall, while five franchisees are still searching for suitable real estate.
KaleMart24 is focused on dense urban areas with heavy foot traffic, though it is also looking at gas stations and strip malls as potential sites. Locations typically run between roughly 1,000 and 1,500 square feet, with some reaching up to 2,000 square feet. Saoudi said the company has also tested formats as small as 300 square feet, allowing it to fit into smaller retail spaces that may not work for a traditional supermarket.
Toronto Debut Set for Yonge Street
As part of its push into Ontario, KaleMart24 is preparing to open its first Toronto store at 601 Yonge St. Saoudi said the location is scheduled to open Saturday, marking the brand’s entry into the city.
The company launched its first store at Montreal’s Berri-UQAM Metro station in March 2024. Since then, it has positioned itself as a departure from the standard convenience store format, blending typical convenience items with ready-to-eat meals, smoothies, acai bowls, snacks and packaged products.
Saoudi said the concept grew out of differences he observed between convenience stores in North America and those in Europe and Asia, where such stores often function as destinations for breakfast, lunch and other prepared food options rather than simply stops for snacks or essentials.
“We’re changing the convenience store landscape,” Saoudi said.

National Ambitions Beyond Quebec and Ontario
KaleMart24 is also looking to expand its franchise network into markets outside its current footprint, including Calgary and British Columbia, as part of a broader push across Canada.
The chain’s expansion in Quebec and Ontario is being led by Think Retail, with founder Tony Flanz overseeing site selection and deal execution in those provinces.
Saoudi said the company’s longer-term goal is to surpass 100 locations by the end of 2027, as KaleMart24 continues to build out its convenience-store model in additional Canadian markets.
