Hydro One Opens $120-Million Distribution Warehouse in Orillia

Hydro One has completed an approximately $120-million investment in Orillia, opening a new provincial distribution warehouse the utility says will strengthen Ontario’s electricity supply chain and improve access to critical equipment across the province.

The 120,000-square-foot facility sits beside Hydro One’s regional operations centre and brings the company’s warehouse operations together under one roof. Hydro One says the site establishes Orillia as its provincial supply chain hub, supporting the storage and distribution of equipment and materials used across Ontario.

Consolidating Operations From Barrie

The new warehouse consolidates operations that were previously based in Barrie, creating a centralized location for inventory management and distribution. Hydro One says bringing its inventory and warehouse operations together in one place will improve efficiency and strengthen partnerships with Ontario and Canadian suppliers.

The company adds that the facility will help ensure crews have timely access to the equipment and materials needed to maintain, restore and expand Ontario’s electricity network. The investment is described as part of Hydro One’s broader efforts to modernize its operations and support growing demands on the province’s electricity system.

Part of a Broader Investment in Orillia

The warehouse opening follows other recent Hydro One activity in Orillia. In March, the company hosted provincial officials there to mark the opening of its regional operations centre, an event that also reflected on the one-year anniversary of the province’s 2025 ice storm. That gathering highlighted the importance of having people, equipment and infrastructure in place to support Ontario’s electricity system during emergencies and major weather events.

With the warehouse now fully operational, Hydro One says Orillia is positioned to play a key role in supporting the company’s supply chain and delivering infrastructure materials to communities across the province.
