Wildlight Kitchen + Bar, a Michelin-recommended restaurant located at UBC in Vancouver, is set to close its doors on November 28, 2026, after nearly four years in operation. The restaurant’s team announced the closure on Instagram, calling it an “incredibly difficult decision” made by ownership.
The announcement largely focused on gratitude toward staff, with the team crediting their “dedication, passion, hard work and commitment to serving our guests” as central to what Wildlight became since opening.
A Milestone Launch for Pattison Food Group
Wildlight opened on February 2, 2023, marking the first restaurant venture from British Columbia’s Pattison Food Group. Chef Warren Chow led the opening kitchen, with a launch menu built around local producers, featuring dishes such as gin-steamed Salt Spring Island mussels and a pescatarian charcuterie board that included house-made salmon pastrami.
The restaurant quickly gained recognition, winning first place in both the New Restaurant and Pacific Northwest categories at the Georgia Straight’s 2023 Golden Plates awards just three months after opening. It went on to receive a Michelin Guide recommendation, a distinction the restaurant’s website says it held in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Final Menu Planned Before Closure
Executive chef Tim Hui currently leads Wildlight’s kitchen. In a follow-up social media post, the team said they intend to go “out with a bang,” preparing “one final menu, celebrating everyone who built this place into what it became.” According to the restaurant, its current menu still features dishes that were part of the original 2023 lineup, though the specific final menu and its launch date have not yet been announced. The team has indicated that updates will be shared through the restaurant’s Instagram account.
Wildlight’s closure adds to a string of recent restaurant shutdowns in Vancouver, joining establishments such as Kim House, Caffè Artigiano on Main Street, and Their There.
