ZYUS Life Sciences Corporation, a Saskatoon-based clinical-stage company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker ZYUS, has announced it expects to release topline results from its Phase 2a UTOPIA-1 clinical trial on September 30, 2026. The trial evaluated the company’s Trichomylin softgel capsules in patients experiencing moderate to severe pain related to advanced cancer.
The announcement was made alongside results from the company’s Annual General and Special Meeting of Shareholders, held on September 24, 2026, along with a leadership change on its Audit Committee.
Annual Meeting Outcomes
At the meeting, shareholders approved all items put forward for a vote. This included the election of six directors to the company’s board: Brent H. Zettl, Richard Hoyt, John L. Knowles, Garnette Weber, Dr. Charlotte Moore Hepburn, and Wayne Brownlee, each to serve until the next annual meeting or until a successor is appointed.
Shareholders also approved the appointment of MNP LLP, Chartered Professional Accountants, as the company’s external auditor and gave directors authority to set the auditor’s compensation. Additionally, the company’s Omnibus Equity Incentive Plan was ratified and confirmed.
Change in Audit Committee Leadership
Alongside the annual meeting results, ZYUS confirmed that Wayne Brownlee has been named Chair of the Audit Committee, effective September 24, 2026, taking over the position from John L. Knowles. Brownlee previously served as Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. and Nutrien Ltd. He is a Member of the Order of Canada and has received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. In his new role, Brownlee will oversee the committee’s work related to financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, and supervision of the company’s external auditor.
Knowles stepped down as Audit Committee Chair after being appointed the company’s Interim Chief Financial Officer effective September 14, 2026. He will remain on the board and continue as a member of the Audit Committee.
Brent Zettl, President and Chief Executive Officer of ZYUS, said the company was pleased to have Brownlee take on the Audit Committee chair role, while also thanking Knowles for his prior leadership of the committee and welcoming his continued contributions as a board member and interim finance chief.
