Cruise Canada to Open Sixth Depot in Whitehorse, Launches New Yukon Motorhome Route

Cruise Canada has announced plans to open a new motorhome depot in Whitehorse, Yukon, marking the company’s sixth location in the country and giving travellers a fresh way to explore the territory starting in 2027.

The Whitehorse depot is scheduled to begin departures in early May 2027. The expansion is aimed at making self-drive motorhome travel through the Yukon’s wilderness more accessible, according to the company.

New 12-Day Itinerary Launched

Alongside the depot announcement, Cruise Canada has introduced a new 12-day route called the Yukon Wilderness Explorer. The circular itinerary covers roughly 1,740 kilometres, beginning and ending in Whitehorse and passing through Carmacks and Dawson City before following the Top of the World Highway into Alaska. The route then continues south toward Kluane National Park and Reserve and Haines Junction, taking in stops such as Tombstone Territorial Park, Carcross and Emerald Lake.

The Yukon is home to Mount Logan, Canada’s highest peak, and the world’s largest non-polar icefields, located within Kluane National Park and Reserve. Close to 80 percent of the territory remains wilderness, encompassing mountains, forested valleys, lakes and rivers.

Package Pricing and Travel Details

The new motorhome itinerary has been packaged for travellers by tour operator Canadian Sky under the name Explore Yukon’s Wilderness by Motorhome. The package is priced from £2,039 per person for 13 nights, with departures from Whitehorse beginning in May 2027. The price includes return flights, checked baggage, mandatory fees and taxes, motorhome hire, and accommodation as outlined in the itinerary.

Getting to the Territory

The Yukon spans an area comparable in size to Spain but has a population of about 47,000 people, alongside wildlife populations that include roughly 220,000 caribou and 70,000 moose. Air access to the territory is provided through several carriers. Air North operates year-round jet service from Whitehorse to cities including Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna and Edmonton, with seasonal routes to Toronto and Ottawa and additional connections to northern communities such as Dawson City, Old Crow and Inuvik. Air Canada runs daily flights to Whitehorse from London via Vancouver, while WestJet offers seasonal service from London to Whitehorse via Calgary between June and early September.
