Chipotle Opens First Kelowna Location, Bringing 30 New Jobs to the Okanagan

Chipotle Mexican Grill has opened its first restaurant in Kelowna, marking the fast-food chain’s initial entry into British Columbia’s Interior region.

The new location is situated at 150-1950 Harvey Ave. within Spall Plaza, in a space previously occupied by a TD Canada Trust branch. The restaurant opened its doors this morning and will operate daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Anat Davidzon, Chipotle’s international managing director, said the Kelowna opening brings the chain closer to residents, students and visitors across the region, describing Kelowna as the cultural hub of the Okanagan Valley. Davidzon added that the new restaurant will introduce guests to Chipotle’s approach of offering fresh, customizable meals made with real ingredients and prepared without artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

Expansion Across British Columbia

While this marks Chipotle’s first presence in both Kelowna and the broader Interior region, it represents the chain’s 24th location in British Columbia overall. Close to half of the province’s existing Chipotle locations are concentrated in Vancouver and Surrey.

Local Hiring and Opening Promotions

According to a Chipotle news release, the new Kelowna restaurant is expected to create approximately 30 local jobs, with details on available positions posted online. The company highlighted several employee benefits tied to these roles, including tuition reimbursement, retirement savings matching, access to mental healthcare, and referral bonuses.

To mark the grand opening, Chipotle offered a promotional incentive for early visitors: the first 100 customers through the door on opening day received a complimentary Chipotle-branded speaker.
