A married couple based in Regina has expanded their business ventures into the town of Kamsack, Saskatchewan, opening a new liquor store called Bottle Boss.
Brijesh Patel and his wife Trupti Patel opened the store on Sept. 25 at 510 main street, in the former P&J Plumbing building located next to the Family Pharmacy. The couple also owns and operates the Ross Food Centre, a convenience store and restaurant on the east side of Regina, and Brijesh said they plan to commute between the two cities for the foreseeable future.
Brijesh moved to Canada from India in 2010, first living in Toronto before relocating to Regina, where he met Trupti. The couple married in 2013 and have three children. They received their Canadian citizenship in 2014.
What the Store Offers
Bottle Boss carries a selection of wine and spirits described by Brijesh as competitively priced. The renovated building includes a 600-square-foot cooler stocked with a range of beers and coolers, along with a 2,000-square-foot retail space carrying premium products.
The store also plans to sell snacks and, once an ice machine is installed, will offer free ice to customers. Bottle Boss will provide curbside service and deliveries within the town, and customers planning special events can arrange customized orders in advance.
Staffing and Hours
Beyond the two owners, the business currently employs a manager and two full-time staff, with two part-time positions still to be filled. The manager, Bhavin Patel of Regina, plans to work in Kamsack about two days a week. The two full-time employees are Amanpreet Kaur and Amandeep Singh. Brijesh noted that despite sharing a surname with the manager, the two are not related, nor are they connected to other Patel families operating businesses in Kamsack, including the recent buyers of the local Home Hardware depot or the owner of the town’s Petro-Canada outlet.
Bottle Boss will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. People interested in the part-time openings have been invited to drop off resumes at the store.
Future Plans
In addition to the liquor store, the Patels own an empty lot at the intersection of main street and Nykolaishen Drive, the former site of the Woodlander Hotel. A grand opening event for Bottle Boss is planned for late October, and the owners intend to hold a barbecue next summer to mark the business and thank customers. Discount coupons are also expected to become available in the near future.
Brijesh said he and his wife are committed to contributing positively to the Kamsack community and thanked local residents for their early support.
